The Hardware team at Worldcoin is responsible for all aspects of driving the engineering and manufacturing of world-class hardware devices reaching billions of people. We work cross-functionally with our industrial design, optics, software, growth, and finance teams to define product requirements and execute on development.
About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Certification Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Certification Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that our hardware products comply with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of certification processes, has excellent attention to detail, and can effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
In this role you will:
- Certification Compliance: Ensure that our products meet all necessary national and international certification requirements, industry standards, and regulations.
- Documentation Management: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to the certification process, including test plans, reports, and compliance records.
- Coordination with Regulatory Authorities: Collaborate with regulatory bodies and certification agencies to obtain necessary approvals and manage communication throughout the certification process.
- Testing and Evaluation: Plan and conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of products to verify compliance with relevant standards and safety guidelines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, Product Management, Legal and Market Operations teams to incorporate certification requirements into the product development process and growth roadmap.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and issues related to certification and work proactively to address them. Create assessments for new designs and identify compliance gaps caused by redesigns and added features.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with changes in certification standards and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and adherence to the latest industry best practices.
- Project Management: Effectively manage certification projects, tracking progress, and providing regular updates to stakeholders.
About you:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Additional certifications in relevant areas are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in certification and compliance engineering, mandatory within the fields of electrical safety and radio compliance.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of national and international regulations, standards and certification processes applicable to electrical systems and portable Li-Ion batteries. Examples are IEC 62368, IEC 62133, IEC 62471, IS 13252, 47 CFR Part 15 Subpart C/ E, ETSI EN 301 489, ETSI EN 300 328, ETSI EN 301 893
- Strong network of reliable and experienced partners for global certification and testing
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex technical designs and interpret it for compliance with certification requirements.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to identify and address certification-related challenges effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German, enabling clear and concise reporting to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Collaboration: Strong team player with the capability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to changes in regulations, industry requirements and company roadmap
- Integrity: Demonstrated commitment to upholding ethical standards in the certification process.
