A palimpsest can be described as something repurposed over time that retains visible traces of its original form.
In Tokyo this summer, Worldcoin and FWB took this definition and extended it to the idea of humanness—more specifically, humanness in the age of AI. What happens when we examine what makes us human through the lens of artificial intelligence, recording our perspective “on top of the layers and layers of explorations that have come before us”?
This is the Palimpsest of Personhood.
Set against the backdrop of a capital city renowned for its embrace of new technologies, the Worldcoin and FWB communities came together to both discuss and celebrate personhood. The event included everything from music and conversation centered around the implications of AI to World ID verifications and works of art created from the specialized images used to verify World ID.
